My personality Traits

My personality traits:  Modest, quiet, independent, optimistic, sensitive

I was a quiet, modest child when I was in elementary school. I was a leader in my class, and my parents and teacher always praised me. I was an obedient child from my birth, quiet and modest by nature. From elementary school until now, I lived at a school dormitory, where I learned to do housework by myself.  When I was a six-year-old child, I took an airplane by myself.  These experiences fostered my independent trait.  My optimism and sensitivity developed after elementary school.
I lived with my grandparents before I went to middle school.  That was the happiest time of my life. Though my grandparents could not teach me much from textbooks, they taught me to be an optimistic, sensitive person. I believed I could do better than other children of my age.
After I finished kindergarten, I moved to Nanjing which is a big city in China with my aunt. Because my aunt was busy with her business, nobody took care of me. I felt lonely and lost in that period. I believe I am sensitive now because I had a bad experience as a teenager.  I moved to Beijing to live with my mother after two years. I spent my teenage years until now in Beijing. My parents divorced when I was fourteen years old, and I seldom saw my father after that.  I seldom felt my father’s love. To be honest, my parents’ divorce did not have a big influence me; it just let me become more sensitive, without a sense of security.  I always stayed at school, so I became more independent.  That gave me the confidence to go to study abroad. I knew that I could take care of myself.
I cannot say that I am more like my mother or father because I didn’t grow up with either one.  I spent most of my life with my grandparents and aunt.
From my experience, I believe it is better for a child to stay with her parents (mother and father).  It is the best way to grow. I miss my grandmother; she had a big influence on my life.  In China, we have this expression: “Men at their birth, are naturally good. If there is no teaching, the nature will deteriorate.  However, to feed without teaching, is the parent's fault.”  I agree with this idea. People are naturally good when at birth. The difference is nurture. Nurture determines the way people work and live. I believe this is determined by people’s life environment and their parents.

Pre-Journal-Chinese one child policy

Think of time when you were keenlu aware of institutional injustice---an action, law,or rejulation that was legally in the right but that you felt was  wrong. The first thing come to my mind is Chinese One Child Policy.

In order to control the national population, the one-child policy has been carried out for a long time in Chia. It is undeniable that it has achieved good effects. However, it brings some social problem. For example, it makes aging population and "Dind family" more serious. In one word, like a double-edged sword, this policy has inevitably triggered several problems for children and parents, as well as the whole society. Therefore, I think it's time for China to cancel this policy gradually.
Firstly, China's population has been controled after years of implementation of the policy. And most people have realized the importance of birth control for a better life. On the control, the birth control policy make the proportion of aging people rise at an unstoppable rate. Therefore, it is time to cancel birth control policy to remit aging of population. Secondly, the one-child policy has revealed lots of disadvantages. Growing up with no brother or sister, the child feels lonely and isolated, not knowing how to communicate with others. Moreover, the only child in the familiy is likely to be spoiled by too much devoted love from their parents and grandparents. Therefore, they may be selfish, capricious and disobliging in their daily life.
In brief, we can conclude that the one-child policy is inappropriate to modern China's situation, and it has already had many negative effects on the children's growth. So it's really the high time for us to take a second look at the policy.

Chinese SAT

June,7 and 8  is the day of Chinese SAT.The College Entrance Examination, or commonly known as Gaokao, is an academic examination held annually in the mainland of our country. This examination is a prerequisite for entrance into almost all higher education institutions at the undergraduate level. It is usually taken by students in their last year of senior school, although there have been no age restrictions since 2001.
College Entrance Examination is one of the biggest events in China, because it may change millions of students and families' lives. The number of participants reached its peak to 10.5 millions in 2008 and this year, the numbers drop to 9.15 millions. Study abroad and employment pressure are the two main reasons of the decrease. In China, there are hot discussions about this exam. People think that it's unfair to determine one's faith just by an exam, while others think that under the current circumstance, there are no other better ways. After year after year's try, some universities and colleges find more ways to recruit, and independent recruitment is the most popular. However, no matter how it will change in the future, working hard is the key to get success in study.

Foreigners study Chinese

In my Business law class, my friend named Larry, he is studying Chinese now.On TV programs, we can see many foreigners can speak Chinese fluently and sing songs well. Or, walking on the street, we may see a foreigner talking with friends in fluent Chinese. And a lot of Confucius Institutes has been built arond the globe. Indeed, Chinese is more popular around the world than before, and the population speaking Chinese is on the rise. Some people argue that this phenomenon is good for the development of the language and the communication between countries, while others doubt it. As for me, I prefer to the former.
With the Chinese-speaking population becoming larger and larger, Chinese is endowed with greater vitality, which is of great importance to the survival and development of a language. With constant change of time, more new words and phrase from other languages are added to Chinese, which greatly enriches Chinese. What's more, the wide use of Chinese can introduce real Chinese culture to the world so that people from other nations can gain a better and further understanding of China. Since language and culture are closely related, it's impossible to learn a language without learning its culture. Once knowing a nation's culture, the understanding of that nation would be deeper and the barriers would be eliminated gradually.
From the discussions above, with the progressing of globalization, Chinese has been widely recognized and learned. It's a good way to broadcast our nation's culture. However, in view of this situation, we can not be to optimistic, because with the deepening of communication, something bad can be brought to our language, too. Therefore, we should be cautious to this phenomenon.

The Importance of Self-Confidence

People say that self-confidence is half of the success that can bring you courage to stick to what you do. Without self-confidence, one can not do well in anything. Self-confidence is of great importance and value to a person.
Firstly, self-confidence enables us to have the ambition of being successful. Only when you have the ambition to be successful, can you be successful eventually. Secondly, once we gain self-confidence, we will possess the courage and strength to overcome the setbacks and difficulties. With self-confidence, no one and nothing can stop you to success.Thirdly, with self-confidence we may accomplish something which seems to be impossible previously. No great thing is easy for us, therefore we should hold the idea that anything is possible. We should, or have to trust in ourselves.
In short, self-confidence is the spiritual pillar of a person as well as the inherent power, which is of great importance and value to a person.

Smile

People always say that smile is the most beautiful person card. I strongly agree with them. Smile likes the sunshine that can bring warmth to people and make people happy. When you are happy, you will smile subconsciously, because a good mood brings smile to your face. But, you also should smile when you are upset, because smile might bring you confidence, courage so that cheer yourself up.
Smiling shows good mood and positive attitude to life, so that those people who always smile can attract the others easily, because people like to build relationship with smiling ones. Moreover, smiling shows sincereness and confidence. No matter to yourself or others, they both important. Besides, when you smile to the world, the world is smiling at you. Therefore, keep smiling and show you best to the world.

Indulgent children is bad for them

In China nowadays, most families have only one child, who gets more and more attention and love from their parents. Parent always try their best to meet the needs of the child because most of the time they are too busy with their work to stay with the only child. Then more and more parents tend to say "yes" to most of their children's demand as a method to make up for the lack of care. However, it's not a blessing to always say "yes" to children.
Indulgence from parents is very likely to throw bad influence on their children. For one thing, the only child of a family has difficulty distinguishing right and wrong. They used to get "yes" from others. Therefore, once they are refused, they will feel angry because in their mind, nobody can say "no" to them. Now, there are many bad events that youngsters hurt or kill others just because they are refused. For another thing, children will form the habit of getting something for nothing. They take everything they get for granted with no gratitude. They have formed the view that their parents have the duty to buy everything for them. Finally, most of the only children are selfish. Being the only child in the family, they needn't share anything with other, so usually they don't realize the importance of share.
In short, parent are supposed to take some effective measures to prevent the negative influences of overindulgence on their children, and parents should bear in mind that it's no good to the children's growth if they always say "yes" to them.
